Regional Group Australia (RGA) is excited to share we are building a bigger team to meet demands for our expanding business. We are looking for an experienced Quarry Technical Officer to join us based at our Yarra Valley Quarry who is keen to contribute to the continued growth of the business.
About the role:
The Quarry Technical Officer is responsible for sampling, testing and reporting on quarry products in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) test methods, and company Inspection & Test Plans. The role ensures product quality, technical compliance, and integrity of test results while supporting production teams through technical advice and quality feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Governance
- Adhere at all times to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Conduct sampling and testing of quarry products in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and DTP test methods.
- Maintain required testing frequencies.
- Produce accurate, objective, and traceable test results.
- Report any incidence of undue influence or pressure on test outcomes.
- Raise non-conformances.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide test results to Technical and/or Production Management.
- Liaise with quarry production staff regarding product quality and compliance status.
- Offer potential solutions to product deficiencies.
Laboratory, Equipment & Facilities
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Ensure the testing facility is maintained in a clean, orderly, and compliant condition.
- Maintain assigned vehicle, testing equipment, and amenities in good working order.
Planning & Prioritisation
- Prioritise testing activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and availability to travel and work across multiple quarry sites as required.
Key Requirements:
- Current driver’s licence.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel between quarry sites.
- Strong commitment to safety, integrity, and quality.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Clear and effective communication with technical and operational teams.
- Professional conduct and ethical decision-making.
- NATA signatory-level competency for aggregate testing.
- Previous quarry operational experience, including knowledge of varied production techniques.
- Exposure to both hard rock and sand quarry operations.
- Current First Aid certification desirable.
